NASA JPL contracted with Extreme Endeavors to perform design work and installation of equipment on site in the remote mountains of Antarctica. We developed a specialized microcontroller system to monitor equipment, poll and store GPS Coordinates, and communicate over RF radios back to McMurdo Station. Extreme Endeavors spent one month in Antarctica, flying out in helicopters to install and repair hardware for NASA. There is nothing like being dropped off in the middle of the Trans-Antarctic Mountains!
