Supporting NASA JPL In Antarctica

Question: Do the mountains of Antarctica rise and fall as the millions of tons of ice change?

Problem: NASA needed someone to develop and install electronic devices so that it could answer this question.

  • NASA JPL contracted with Extreme Endeavors to perform design work and installation of equipment on site in the remote mountains of Antarctica.

  • We developed a specialized microcontroller system to monitor equipment, poll and store GPS Coordinates, and communicate over RF radios back to McMurdo Station.

  • Extreme Endeavors spent one month in Antarctica, flying out in helicopters to install and repair hardware for NASA.

  • There is nothing like being dropped off in the middle of the Trans-Antarctic Mountains!
