Sensors – Acoustical Monitor

Acoustical Monitor

This state‐of‐the‐art, non‐invasive monitoring solution empowers municipalities and utility providers to significantly reduce water loss, improve operational efficiency, and enhance infrastructure reliability. The Acoustical Monitor represents a vital step toward smarter, data‐driven water management—helping utilities preserve water, one of their most critical resources.

The Acoustical Monitor employs a precision‐engineered, gel‐filled acoustical sensor pad designed to detect sound vibrations transmitted through water pipelines. During standard operation, water flows smoothly along the interior of the pipe, generating a stable and predictable acoustical profile.

When the pipe’s structural integrity is compromised—whether by leaks, cracks, or other anomalies—turbulent flow occurs, producing distinct noise and vibration patterns. These deviations result in a measurable change in the pipe’s acoustical signature, enabling the monitor to accurately identify and locate potential underground leaks.

Beyond conventional leak detection, the Acoustical Monitor delivers exceptional performance in monitoring water infrastructure equipment. It provides detailed acoustical data visualization, enabling operators to detect subtle changes in system behavior. By analyzing shifts in acoustic signatures, the device offers early warning of abnormal flow conditions, facilitating proactive maintenance and minimizing the risk of equipment failure.
